Adaptronics

Adaptronics creates a new class of technical, elastomechanical systems that can automatically adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions through the use of new activatable materials and fast digital controllers. The course focuses on the three target fields of technical applications, active shape control, active sound control and active vibration suppression and imparts knowledge of structure-integrated sensors and actuators, structure-conform integration of actuators and sensors, methods of morphing, active structure-borne sound interference, active sound radiation minimisation, autonomous systems and integrated component monitoring. In the practical course, experiments are carried out on working diagrams of piezo stack actuators, shape memory alloys, actuator placement, vibration stabilisation, deformation coupling and electromechanical networks.
